AsAloneentersitsfourthseason,thecompetitionseriesshakesthingsupwithanewtwistthecontestantsaredroppedoffinaremotelocationaspairs.SevenpairsoffamilymemberstraveltoaruggedregionofBritishColumbia,wheretheyareseparatedanddroppedoffmilesapartfromeachother.Eachplayermustnavigatethewildernesstolocatehisorherpartner.Oncereunited,thelovedoneshavetocreatetheirownsheltersandforagefortheirfoodwhileovercomingroughweatherconditionsanddeadlypredators.Theyhavenothingmorethanthecontentsoftheirsmallbackpacksand10toolssplitbetweenthemtohelpwiththeirsurvival.Theyalsohaveenoughcamerageartorecordtheirexperiencesbecause--asinthepast--thereisnocameracrew.Thelastduostandingattheendoftheseasonisdeclaredthewinnerandtakeshomethe$500,000grandprize.
